Check out www.VegDC.com for specific info on local vegan/vegetarian restaurants in a variety of cuisines. There are many quality Ethiopian, Indian and vegetarian Asian/Pho restaurants across the area. In the District, Java Green and the more 'formal' Cafe Green are quite good; Great Sage out in Clarksville MD is also quite good. In Rockville, Vegetable Garden is often recommended. Can anyone recommend a good vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Washington DC?

Check out www.vegdc.com. I have to say some of the best places are the veg-friendly ones. And the best Asian vegetarian are both in Rockville (Vegetable Garden and Yuan Fu are a couple miles from each other on Rockville Pike).
The nicest all-veg place is about 20 miles away: Great Sage in Clarksville, and you would need a car to get there.
I am not at all impressed with Java Green/Cafe Green. The food is mediocre and not terribly inspired, plus I find it overpriced.
You can get good Ethiopian dining in the DC area--my favorite is Dama in Arlington; they have vegan "tibs" and excellent dishes. The ambiance is zero, but the food is good. Can anyone recommend a good vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Washington DC?
Sticky Fingers in Columbia Heights is fabulous. It's a restaurant as well as a bakery!
