Chic fun restaurant in DC?

A girlfriend of mine and I are going to DC (for the first time) for a weekend in july - I'm looking for a good restaurant to go to for dinner. The kind of food isnt really important, we like everything but seafood, we'd just like to keep it around 50 - 75 per person. Ideally somewhere outdoors with a view of the city and maybe live music? And somewhere a little nice - not like a bar. Thanks!Chic fun restaurant in DC?
Check out Legal Seafoods if you're a seafood type, if not then check out Morton's Steakhouse!
If you don't really want the bar scene I would avoid Adams Morgan. Fun place but not necessarily the finest dinning. I would focus on Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Cleveland Park and Ust.

Georgetown All along M st in Georgetown from 28 to 35th st are great restaurants. Some open the front archways to give it an outdoor feel but not much out door dinning. Mien Yu is a hip place right on M. Another really cool place is Mendocino also on M. Both are really good. Zed's Ethiopian at 28th has a nice out door patio for dinning.

U St from 18th to 11th has some good jazz bars and restaurants. Some outdoors and some not. Utopia is the best of the lot for dinner but lots of great music to be had.

Dupont has a bunch of places. North of Dupont on Florida is Thaiphoon, obviously Thai. Cafe Europa on P near 22nd is new and looks great.

Cleveland Park has good dinning as well. There are 2 Irish Pubs there but don't know if they have music playing. Cleveland Park Bar and Grill has roof top dinning which is fun.

Near Union station is the Dubliner which is a great Irish bar and they do have music regularly.

When you get into town grab a copy of the CIty Paper, it comes out on Thursdays and it lists all the weekend activities.

Have fun!Chic fun restaurant in DC?
Try the Reef in Adams Morgan (2446 18th St. NW, 202-518-3800). There's a great view and the food is wonderful. Yes, it is technically a bar but not a dark, skanky dive- especially compared with a lot of other places in Adams Morgan. ;)

Sequoia Restaurant (3000 K Street NW, 202-944-4200) has outside seating right on the Potomac. It's not as chic as the Reef but it's pretty nice.
I use to go to a restaurant in Arlington, just across the Potomac from DC with a revolving floor, you could see everything. But for the life of me I can't remember the name.

Also the inner harbor in Baltimore is a great place to go on a Friday or Saturday night. That is about 30 minutes north of DC.
Check out DC Coast, Kinkeads, TenPenh, Capitol Grille, Cashion's, Citronelle, Nora, Georgia Brown, Vidalia. These are all really good restaurants and are priced in your range depending on how you order.

There are no really tall buildings in the District that offer city views. There has been a height restriction for many years.

Go and enjoy the food and check out the race.
Try Jaleo in DC and Crystal City. It has a great sidewalk dining, and is super-cool. Also there's Sonoma Wine Bar, cool fusion food at Zengo, and Mendocino Wine Bar. My personal favorite are the organic and farm fresh foods of the Blue Duck Tavern, which is one of the best fine dining restaurants in DC
Like someone above already said... Old Ebbit's is excellent.
Liberty Cavern...

Its good!
Jesus told me to tell you that I should say: "Olive Garden." He loves his olive trees I tell you.

The Willard Room sounds like what you might be looking for. It's a few blocks away from the White House and it's the place where the term Lobbist was first termed.

The Old Ebbit Grill is also a nice choice with lots of great history.

If you go to the washingtonian site below, you will find MANY more great food picks for DC. Make sure to try to get reservations since you're going on such a busy weekend.

Dupont Circle -

Kramer's Books and Afterword's cafe in the back - Don't let the look fool you, they have amazing food. Indoor and Outdoor Seating - Very informal

Try the Dysfunctional Family Sundae - it's orgasmic.

Zorba's Cafe - Greek Food - the Kefta Kabobs are my favorite - Indoor and Outdoor Seating - Very informal
Charlie Palmer on Capitol Hill has a great roof - it's a little on the expensive side, but it's nice and you should be able to keep it under $75/pp if you don't go crazy. The only thing is I'm not sure it's open all the time so you should check on that.

Most places you're not going to have a good view of the city unless you're on a roof or upper deck.

Likewise, Morton's on Connecticut and L is a steakhouse with an outdoor deck on the 2d floor. Again, not the cheapest but should be able to stay under $75/pp if you don't get a bottle of wine (if you do, it will be very difficult).

The waterfront in Georgetown has several restaurants (Agraria, Sequioa, Bangkok Joe) and the view is quite lovely, but the food is not quite as great.
