I am going to be in DC for my 1 year anniversary and want to go to an affordable romantic restaurant.?

My boyfriend will be in Washington DC for our 1-year anniversary. I am going to surprise him and would like to make reservations somewhere. I am looking for a nice place that is good for anniversaries so I can really impress him. I am on a budget but can spend up to about $150, but would rather a little bit less. We are trying this whole "no alcohol" thing, so you can exclude drinks from the price. Thanks!!!I am going to be in DC for my 1 year anniversary and want to go to an affordable romantic restaurant.?
Old Ebbitt Grill is great, also Anna Maria's for Itallian food, JFK's favorate!
Add another vote for Komi and for Little Fountain Cafe. (Little Fountain is less expensive, but the food is much less ambitious, though still good.) Another place to consider: Palena, which I just went to for a birthday dinner. Very romantic and elegant, and spectacular food. Like Komi, if you don't drink, you should be just under the $150 limit. And before making a reservation, check out the Washingtonian and the Washington Post websites for more details on the restaurants mentioned in all these answers. (And don't even think about the Cheesecake Factory if you want romantic!)I am going to be in DC for my 1 year anniversary and want to go to an affordable romantic restaurant.?

My personal pick? Two Quail: http://www.twoquail.com/ and then take the horse and carriage ride after dinner Do the early bird (make a 6p.m. reservation, order before 6:30p.m.) and it's only $25 each from a select menu: http://www.twoquail.com/earlybird.html
Definitely Two Quail. You can reserve private alcoves with curtains that close you in and the chairs are big and comfortable. Food is fabulous - you won't need any alcohol to have a romantic evening for two here.

Old Ebbits is one of my favorites, but it is very noisy and crowded.
Hmm...i've been to all those places mentioned, but they don't especially strike me as romantic (in my opinion). Here are my picks for most romantic DC (on a medium budget):

Komi: This is a really small, intimate setting and without drinks I think you'll be right at the $150 mark. You get a choice of two sizes of prix fixe menus and the food is amazing. Located in Dupont Circle

Little Fountain Cafe: In Adams Morgan, this place is amazingly cute and tucked away in bustling A-M. Candlelit dinner--the food is great although not as "fancy" as Komi.

Firefly: This place makes you feel like you're inside a chi-chi treehouse. I realize that is a weird description but the ambiance is warm and "firefly-ish" and there are tree trunks inside the restaurant itself. The prices are very moderate and you will feel taken care of and cozy at this chic restaurant.

Neyla: Located in Georgetown, i did valentine's day here once and what distinguishes this place was the excellent waitstaff who made it a special night. It also has a great look to it, very mediterranean, and has great middle eastern/mediterranean food.

Finally, if you want to go more "hip," i'd go to Tabaq Bistro where you can get a table on their rooftop deck under the stars. It's more of a scene (there will be louder music playing) but the atmosphere is almost Euro-chic and the food is great, tapas-style.

Good luck!
For 150 bucks- no drinks you should be able to really impress. go to www.washingtonian.com for the areas best 100 restaurants - for a romantic atmosphere and great indian, try A Passage to India , great seafood- Black's Bar and Grill, both in Bethesda-For ultimate romance that might have you pretty close to maxing the budget, but worth it, L'Auberge Chez Francois in Great Falls, or Mrs. Kay's Tollhouse in Silver Spring. Have a great night!
Here are a few good restaurants that I think are good for an anniversary (under $150 depending of course on what/how much you order):

1. The Melting Pot -- www.meltingpot.com

It's nice and intimate and you share fondue pots and everything else so it's very interactive.

Locations in DC, Arlington, Fredericksburg, Reston, Annapolis, %26amp; Rockville/Gaithersburg area.

2. Mystery Dinner Playhouse -- www.mysterydinner.com/washington.htm

It's dinner and a play all rolled into one, for about $45/adult.

Located in Arlington.

3. Cheesecake Factory -- www.cheesecakefactory.com

Great food...very large portions though. Cheesecake is the yummiest.

Locations: DC, Arlington, Fairfax, Dulles, Tysons Corner.

4. Obelisk -- unknown site

A fine dinning restaurant. I think it's a fixed rate of $60/person for a 4-5 course meal.

Location: DC (Dupont Circle area)

5. Hana Tokyo Restaurant -- www.hanatokyo.com

If you've never been to a hibachi restaurant before...GO! This one has a great view of the Potomac too.

Location: Alexandria
