Simple, yet classy restaurant in DC?

Taking my girlfriend out for sixth month anniversary. Still kids, both first year in college so dont have enough to finance a triple digit dinner....but i still want this place to be nice enough for us to dress nicely. We'd get off the red train(metro) around union station unless you recommend something else! Thank you so much I appreciate the help!!!!Simple, yet classy restaurant in DC?
Arbys is nice.
If you like Middle Eastern, hop the Red Line to Dupont Circle, turn right on Q Street, head down to P. Between 17th and 16th Streets on P Street is Skewers, a Middle Eastern restaurant. You don't have to dress up, but no one will think it's strange if you do. It's fairly inexpensive if you stick to the appetizers and salads or smaller plates. Refills on iced tea are free. Since you're first-year college students, I assume you're under 21, so alcohol won't be a factor here.

If you like Indian food, check out Nirvana on K Street near 18th (Farragut North stop). It's a nice vegetarian Indian place, not terribly expensive, and the service is leisurely. Not the place to go if you're in a hurry.Simple, yet classy restaurant in DC?
If you stay mindful of wine/alcohol purchases and include gratuities into your budget, you could experience some very fine dining at Bistro Bis (15 E Street NW, located in the Hotel George), Charlie Palmer Steak (101 Constitution Avenue NW), B. Smith's (50 Massachusetts Avenue NE, located in Union Station) or Johnny's Half Shell (400 North Capitol).
