What is the most romantic restaurant in Washington, DC?

Depends on what you're into. Citronelle is a once in a lifetime dining experience. And you should know the tasting menu with wine will cost you about $750 for 2 people.

If you're looking for somewhere to go on Valentines Day, I'd suggest getting a late reservation. Its a bit like drinking in a bar on New Years or St. Patty's Day. Amateur Night. Everyone is out and expectations are high.

For romantic, check out Palena on Ct Ave. Central is Michel Richard's newer bistro style restaurant. Great food also. What is the most romantic restaurant in Washington, DC?
The Little Fountain Cafe in Adams Morgan is cozy and old fashioned and the food is very nice. It's not as spectacular as Citronelle or Palena, but the prices are much more reasonable.

I agree with their choice of Citronelle... and they're also the highest rated restaurant in the DC area by Washingtonian magazine year after year. Michel Richard is a genius...

You can do better than Ruth's Chris. It's a chain!!!

Try IRicci in Dupont Circle. It's great Italian food.
There is a good little Italian restaurant in Crystal City on 23rd st. It has the red and white checkerd table clothes and candles on the table. It is right next to the Crystal City Sports Pub. Great atmosphere and great food.

Try Olive Garden. The food is heavenly.
Well if you have the money for it, I personally felt Ruth Chris' was a very romantic atmosphere and great for my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. Its VERY expensive, so save it for a special occasion!
All suggestions so far are OK, but if you want a restaurant, meal and service you will truly remember, the first choice has to be L'Auberge Chez Francois in Great Falls. We've been regulars since the 1960s when they were still in downtown DC. You will need a reservation. Make it at least two weeks in advance.

Start off with their special beer with orange liqueur at the bottom, and end with a chocolate or raspberry souffle - both to die for!

See their web page at www.laubergechezfrancois.com/.

Second choice - and the one we visit far more often than Chez Francois - is Cafe Renaissance in Vienna. Saeed and his staff are fantastic. You will return again and again.
