Interesting restaurants in DC??

i need to find an interesting place to have dinner in DC. Interesting takes on common food, a cool atmosphere...idk, something different. It's for my 18th birthday.

and not too expensive. lolInteresting restaurants in DC??
Here are some suggestions:

Italian food

Bucca de Pepe in Dupont-Make a reservation to eat/be seated in their kitchen and watch your meal being cooked! This is so fun tell them that it's your bday /order dessert and they sing and bring out a candelabra. They also do family style or smaller portions.

OR

Maggiano's-Italian food (Chevy Chase-Mazza Gallery)

OR

Lucky Strike Lane-Gallery Place

Bowling and a restarant combined-regular fun food but a little more upscaled versions of pizza, wings etc. --I couldn't find a website but here are some of the food items. www.lvrj.com/living/7972432.html

OR

Spanish - Rosa Mexicano-you can get your host to make homemade guacomole at your table

OR

Jaleo or Zantinya -Tapas (Gallery place) Your friends and family can share different tapas and try new things. Jaleo has paella.

American City Diner-watch black and white movie while eating American food (Connecticut Avenue) burgers, shakes

A old stand-by Cheescake Factory -where can you go wrong w/ great dessert.

Jackie's in Silver Spring-(right on the edge of DC)

Thai

There are several good places in Dupont that aren't to expensive.

If you like greek food there is a place called 2 chefs in arlington. it has the best greek food. There is lots of cool places there is a place on wisconsin ave I think it is still there called bds mongolian grill. I ate there it is awesome it is a stir fry place you can pick whatever you want and then you take it to the counter and they cook it up for you all fancy. it is very reasonably priced for awesome food. DC has all kinds of great restaurants I HOPE YOU HAVE AHAPPY BIRTHDAY Interesting restaurants in DC??
Happy Birthday! Two options, Ethiopian or Indian! There are a couple of Ethiopian Restaurants in Adam's Morgan. Meskerm is the local favorite. I also like Zed's on M st in Georgetown. Very communal you eat with your hands. It is fun. There is a great Indian Restaurant that is not overpriced but really cool. It is in Cleveland Park, called Indique.
It's not the coolest atmosphere, but check out Meskerem in Adams Morgan. It's Ethiopian, so you eat with your hands, picking up the stews with pieces of teff bread called injera. It's not at all common (except in the DC area maybe), but it's certainly different.
The most unusual experience i've had in the city (was also a BD party) was Marrakesh at 617 New York Ave N.W. (http://www.marrakesh.us/). You get a perfect combination of an atmosphere, various food, good prices, and entertainment
Take the metro to Adam's Morgan. There is a row of "different" restaurants to try. Lebanese Taverna serves Lebanese food....pretty good. Nice atmostphere. I'm a picky eater and I liked it.
