Wow- that is a big area ( between DC and B-more). I live in Bethesda and if you are in my neck of the woods, would suggest Pines of Rome Italian ( old school family Italian and just forgiving...) or Rio Grande ( Ok, technically a chain as they have one in Dallas- but great Mexican food) or Matuba if they like sushi ( has the conveyer style belt) but for other areas inbetween- ( and in B-more, DO NOT MISS THE PAPER MOON DINER) try www.washingtonian.com and www.washingtonpost.com dining guides for ideas!
