DC restaurant - National Mall area, inexpensive, kid-friendly lunch?

We'll be visiting DC with our families and would like to find a kid-friendly, inexpensive restaurant in the area of the National Mall. It doesn't have to be on the Mall (i.e. one of the Museum restaurants - are they overpriced?), it can be nearby. Would prefer non-fast food (no McDonalds, Burger King, etc). Thanks for the help.DC restaurant - National Mall area, inexpensive, kid-friendly lunch?
head over to Union Station via subway rail system. On the lower level you'll find so many cafe's, eataries to choose from... You can also catch a movie at the theater, indulge in the candy store, shop %26amp; sight see. My favorite is B. Smiths on the upper level in Union Station.
There is a Mc Donalds at the science center. As for cheap NO. The value meals averaged 12.00 a piece.DC restaurant - National Mall area, inexpensive, kid-friendly lunch?
You might want to try the museum cafe at the American Indian Museum which is on the Mall close to the National Gallary. It offers a variety of foods from the Americas, some kid-friendly items like burgers, and all the food is homemade and delicious. It would average about 10-15$ a person, depending on what you get, and it has vegetarian dishes too. An added bonus is enjoying the waterfall outside the cafe as you relax and eat.
