Not sure if it still exists. There was a place near Fairfax called "The Black Orchid". Very dressy. They even had a live orchestra with slow dancing music. It's not a big place, but certainly upscale.
Absolutely the best, most romantic evening you may ever experience is a dinner cruise on one of the area's sightseeing tours. Go online and check out Spirit of Washington and the Dandy. Both have several choices, but an evening cruise with music, dancing and the beautiful scenery of the Washington and Alexandria shorelines will be the top. They have special Valentine's Day menus, too. She'll love you for life.Romantic locations and restaurant in maryland, nova,dc?
Pasta Plus in Laurel is absolutely wonderful! The owners are from Italy, and everything is homemade. The restaurant is in a dumpy-looking plaza, so don't let that throw you - it's a gem! You don't have to dress up (unless you go to the V-day Wine Dinner). Their website is http://www.pastaplusrestaurant.com

Another favorite is The Melting Pot. There is one in Columbia and DC, but I prefer Annapolis - they have romantic booths for couples. http://www.meltingpot.com

Good luck!
